Retired Marine Corps Officer, Retired Firefighter/Paramedic
Born at RAF Molesworth, England, to a career Air Force Fighter Pilot and Air America Pilot, Mark was raised in South East Asia and Key Biscayne, Florida. He attended the Florida State University where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminology.
After graduation he was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps. Upon completing The Basic School (TBS) at Quantico, Va. and joining the Fleet Marine Force (FMF), he deployed to Guantanamo Bay Naval Base, Cuba. Afterwards, he joined the 24th Marine Amphibious Unit – Special Operations Capable (24th MAU(SOC) and deployed to the Mediterranean Sea, Gulf of Oman, and the Indian Ocean. Immediately after returning to the United States, Mark was redeployed as part of Contingency Marine Air Ground Task Force 2-88 (CMAGTF 2-88) to the Persian Gulf and participated in Operation Earnest Will and Combat Operation Praying Mantis.
Upon Completion of this deployment, he was issued orders to Marine Corps Security Force Company, Naval Air Station North Island, San Diego, Ca for duty as the Guard Officer and Executive Officer. After this tour, he was selected to attend the United States Army’s Officer’s Advanced Course at Ft. Bliss, Texas where he was selected as Honor Graduate. After school, Captain Murray was reassigned to the FMF, this time as the Battalion S-4, H&S and Alpha Battery Commanding Officer, 3d Low Altitude Air Defense Battalion (3dLAADBN).
After leaving active duty, Mark rejoined the Marines, this time in the Reserves with 4th Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company (4th ANGLICO), where he was a Firepower Control Team Leader, Supporting Arms Liaison Team Leader and a Brigade Platoon Commander until his retirement in 2003 as a Lieutenant Colonel.
Simultaneously, he became a Firefighter/Paramedic for the City of Coral Gables, Florida where he was assigned to a Rescue Crew for 17 years and as a Driver/Engineer for 6 years.
Mark retired from the Fire Service in December of 2019.
As an additional job over the last 19 years, Mark worked as a certified member of the Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) and a professional model in the advertising industry, mainly in the travel and leisure sector. His most notable acting role was as Private William Santiago’s abusive Platoon Sergeant in the major motion film “A Few Good Men”.
Mark’s interests are traveling (60 countries, 6 continents and counting), boating, offshore fishing, dogs, Rugby (retired) and craft beers.
