Ms. Brown has over 10 years of business and financial management experience, over 20 years of marketing and design experience, seven years of social media management experience, and five years of large event planning and organizing.
Ms. Brown has worked with four separate non-profits and managed the spectrum of related activities to include accounting, fundraising, event planning – to include large events with 5,000 – 10,000 attendees – volunteer coordination, donor retention, and timely and accurate input, maintenance, quality assurance, and upkeep of information entered into the organizations’ donor database.
Prior to joining UAP, Ms. Brown worked for 2 years with a 56-year-old nonprofit where she was responsible for increasing donor retention to over 59% (The median donor retention for non-profits is 46%), removing Management Letter notations generated from an audit, and reducing the organization’s credit expense by 3% annually by renegotiating fees with vendors. Ms. Brown also handled all accounts receivable and payable, tracked restricted funds, and assisted in the grant writing process – of which the organization averaged ~$200,000 annually (1/3 of the organization’s revenue) from corporations, individual estates, and government entities.
As an Entrepreneur, Ms. Brown was instrumental in starting “Key Valet Service” with $7k and growing it into the North Carolina Triad’s premier parking and transportation business, generating over half a million dollars in annual revenue, in just three years.
As an Art Director, Ms. Brown has been responsible for designing and managing electronic and print branding, marketing, and social media. In 2002, in recognition for her work, Ms. Brown was awarded North Carolina’s Gold Crown Award for Design.
Ms. Brown earned an associate degree, with Honors, from Guilford Technical Community College (GTCC), and is enthusiastic about earning her bachelor’s and master’s degree in business.
