RETIRED MARINE CORPS OFFICER, U.S. MARINE COMBAT VET
Lt Colonel David “Bull” Gurfein, enlisted in the Marines at 17, completed Boot Camp at Parris Island, went on to become the Honor Graduate from Officer Candidate School, and was Meritoriously Augmented as a Marine Corps Infantry Officer.
With 25 years of service, he retired as a Lt Colonel after leading Marines operationally and in combat around the world, to include:
- Jungles of Panama (Operation Just Cause);
- Deserts of Saudi Arabia & Kuwait (First Gulf War);
- The fence-line at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba;
- The mountains of Afghanistan (Operation Enduring Freedom – 2002);
- The initial assault into Iraq (Operation Iraqi Freedom – 2003);
- Capitol Hill as the Congressional Liaison for the initiation of the Marine Special Operations Command (Raiders).
LtCol. Gurfein also has extensive executive management experience with businesses in diverse, highly-competitive, industries. These include:
- Founder, President & COO, LuxUrban (LUXH), a public Hotel company;
- CEO, ArmorSmith, defense technology;
- SVP & Partner, Holden International, business development consultants;
- President, TRUE Health & Wholeness, fitness;
- VP, The Venetian & The Palazzo, five-diamond resorts in Las Vegas;
- National Sales Manager, MV Sport/Weatherproof, emblazoned sports apparel;
- COO, TeleVend, e-commerce start-up; and
- Associate with Goldman, Sachs & Co, Wall Street investment bank.
In 2016, LtCol. Gurfein ran for U.S. Congress in NY’s 4th District and was endorsed by 5 parties (Republican, Conservative, Independence, Tax Revolt, and Reform). Although he lost, with over 40% of the vote (120k votes) he did far better than most expected he would as a first-time candidate in a predominantly Liberal Democrat district.
LtCol. Gurfein received his MBA from, and was the Class Co-President at, Harvard Business School and received his BS in Speech Communication and Political Science from Syracuse University.
LtCol Gurfein is happily married to his best friend Beth, has a young daughter, Avery, and three yellow labs, Murphy, Scout, and Sugar
