Angelo Pirozzi passed away peacefully at age 86, on May 26th, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family.
Angelo was born on September 17th, 1933, to immigrants from Naples, Italy, who loved, America, their new country. While Angelo grew up in a poor area in Brooklyn, New York, his brother, Joey Pirozzi, says they “were just happy kids and never knew they were poor.”
He went on, through his persistence and hard work, to live the “American Dream,” while always helping those around him.
As a young man, Angelo enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and earned the rank of corporal during the Korean War. He was a combat veteran and noncommissioned officer of Marines with the 11th Marine Artillery Regiment.
Angelo always had a caring heart. During the war, he and his men adopted several young Korean boys who had been orphaned. Angelo cared for them and gave them a home until he could find another suitable caretaker for the boys.
After his military service, Angelo became an extremely talented and innovative baker and highly successful businessman, opening one outstanding bakery and restaurant after another. Most people in and around Boynton Beach, Florida are familiar with his highly popular, Flakowitz Restaurant located at Hagen Ranch Commons.
He was a loving, faithful, and dedicated friend, husband, father, and grandfather.
Friends, employees, and family say his generosity was unmatched and that he loved to share his baking talents with those he loved.
He treated his employees like family, and he loved them deeply and wanted to lift up everyone around him.
Angelo is survived by his wife, Gloria; son Robert, and wife, Nancy; son, Darren; daughter, Angelique, and husband, Michael; his siblings Johnny, Joey, Phil, Millie, and Frankie; and his grandchildren, Dominic, Jack, Sammy, Brooke, and Zachary.
The funeral service will be held at the Palm Beach National Chapel (10055 Heritage Farms Rd, Lake Worth, FL 33449) on Wednesday, June 2, 2021.
The viewing is scheduled to begin at 12pm and the service from 2:00pm – 3:30pm.
